Christina Aguilera’s Transformation For The Cover Of Paper Magazine

Christina Aguilera is known for being flashy, provocative and ever-changing. She’s tried a lot of things in her career. She’s appeared on stage in those legendary assless chaps and skimpy tops, with wild two-toned black and white hair. She went through a retro style phase with pin curls and glamorous dresses. She looks great in modern deep v-necks and fashionably slicked hair. Christina has basically done it all and she truly enjoyed every part of it.

She’s an entertainer by nature and she enjoys changing up her looks. Morphing into different characters, trying various styles, putting on a show – all this is fun for her, even though the public doesn’t always appreciate it.

Christina has definitely noticed how women often find themselves between a rock and a hard place in showbiz. On one hand you’re encouraged to express your femininity and sexuality, you’re praised for looking alluring, you’re supposed to be this subject of people’s desires and fantasies. On the other hand, if you’re “too sexy” you’re chastised for it and made to feel ashamed of yourself. It’s hard to find a middle ground and feel empowered but Christina has always tried her best to do what she believes is right and what makes her feel good.

As much as Aguilera loves a full face of makeup she says that right now she’s “at the place, even musically, where it’s a liberating feeling to be able to strip it all back and appreciate who you are and your raw beauty.”

That’s why for this photoshoot for Paper magazine Christina chose such a natural look. It’s almost rare these days to see celebs pose for photoshoots without a full face of makeup. But Christina looks beautiful with her freckles coming through, tousled dirty blonde hair and very minimal makeup.

You would imagine her looking like this on a Sunday morning, at home, after she has just woken up and while having her first cup of coffee.

This photoshoot was shot by Zoey Grossman. Coline Bach styled Christina Aguilera in Burberry, Stella McCartney, and Fendi.

Her hair was done by @robsalty and the talented @kalikennedy was in charge of makeup. All together they managed to create a couple of very interesting looks that ranged from completely au-naturel to somewhat done up, to end-of-the-day makeup destruction.

On these pictured Christina somehow looks softer, more gentle, and more vulnerable than ever before. And you’ve got to agree that the cover picture is probably the best one of them all.
